The Tigers secured an impressive 3-0 victory over Walnut Tree FC in a blustery league clash, with Storm Bert making its presence felt throughout the game. The Tigers showed resilience and quality to pick up three vital points and avenge their earlier cup defeat to Walnut Tree.
The opening stages of the match were balanced, with both sides adjusting to the challenging conditions. Caspian created several half-chances but struggled to break the deadlock early on. A breakthrough felt inevitable, and it came after Reece Germano was brought down by the Walnut Tree goalkeeper just outside the box. Josh Brooker stepped up to take the resulting free kick, expertly placing it into the bottom left corner to give the Tigers the lead.
Just three minutes later, Caspian doubled their advantage. A pinpoint cross from Reece Germano found Finley Grundy, who positioned himself well to head the ball into the roof of the net. The Tigers went into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 lead, looking firmly in control.
Walnut Tree came out for the second half with intent, but Caspian’s defence held firm. Ryan Patterson was called into action, pulling off an incredible save to tip a long-range effort onto the crossbar, keeping Walnut Tree at bay. Moments later, Patterson turned provider with a long kick up field that caught the Walnut Tree defence off guard. Reece Germano latched onto the ball, escaped the offside trap, and calmly slotted it past the keeper to make it 3-0.
From there, Caspian never looked in danger, managing the game professionally to secure the win. The Tigers’ performance was a perfect response to their earlier cup loss to Walnut Tree and a strong statement of intent in the league.
